PIRANESI VARIATIONS
Location: 13th International Architecture Exhibition Venice Biennale, Venice, Italy
Year: 2012
Invited by David Chipperfield to participate in the Biennale exhibition “Common Ground,” Peter Eisenman in turn
asked Jeffrey Kipnis and Pier Vittorio Aureli to join him in an
exploration of Piranesi’s seminal drawing, Campo Marzio (1762). The
exhibition of models and drawings includes their three, very different
contemporary interpretations of Campo Marzio and one projection of how
Piranesi’s own drawing might have been built as a 3D model, designed by
Yale architecture students.
